"Misty Sunday Morning at Folly" |
I live on land that was my mother’s family cotton field and I grew up on
land that was my daddy’s family cotton field. I may be a very Southern girl,
but I am very proud of my heritage. My family taught me to love life, family
our land, and always respect nature – take nothing for granted.
My parents and my grandparents were all fishers, and they planned two trips
to the beach yearly- one in the summer and one in the fall, depending on how
the Almanac and the moon predicted a good time to fish. So naturally, I grew
up loving the beach.
I have loved to color, then draw, then take pictures, then I dabbled in
watercolor, stained glass, and writing. I felt if I spent a day without
doing something creative it was a wasted day. I worked in several different
jobs, but also took many classes in watercolor and photography. I learned to
develop and print my own pictures. I won a few amateur photo contests, and
have given my artwork as gifts to almost everyone I know – and a lot of
times it was because they asked for them. That is one on the greatest
compliments!
I always look at things as though they were part of a great, beautiful
masterpiece. My husband says I show him the beauty in the otherwise unseen
or ordinary things. It is my passion! I can’t help but want everyone
else to see the hidden treasures along the way.
